A division within the King County Sheriff’s Office recommended a 10-day suspension for a deputy who pulled a gun on a motorcyclist during a traffic stop in August.

The Chief of the King County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division reviewed the findings from the incident and made the recommendation Friday.

Deputy Richard Rowe was investigated after a video surfaced of him approaching a motorcyclist with his gun drawn, demanding identification. Rowe claimed the motorcyclist was driving recklessly, traveling over 100 miles per hour.

Rowe was dressed in plain-clothes in an unmarked car and didn’t identify himself as a deputy until more than 30 seconds into the interaction.

Rowe still has to schedule a hearing with the Sheriff, who will make the ultimate decision.
